SHERISE
“Don't let anyone rob you of your imagination, your creativity, or your curiosity. It's your place in the world; it's your life. Go on and do all you can with it, and make it the life you want to live.
“Mae Jemison, first African American woman Astronaut in space”The SHERISE project aims to address the gender gap in STEM education and entrepreneurship. Despite EU efforts, girls(especially from disadvantaged backgrounds)remain underrepresented due to cultural stereotypes, lack of role models, and limited opportunities (European Commission/EACEA/Eurydice, 2023). Inspired by Action 13 of the Digital Education Action Plan (2020), SHERISE seeks to bridge the gap between policy and practice by empowering girls through hands-on STEM and leadership activities.
"We still need more women in science":. Recognizing the persistent gender gap in STEM, SHERISE is motivated by the urgent need to translate these policies and initiatives into tangible actions at the grassroots level.
The SHERISE project involves four countries creating a unique opportunity for cross-cultural learning and collaboration.
This logbook is a story told through images, capturing the most memorable moments that nurtured our journey through knowledge, awareness, need to foster girls’ entrepreneurship & leadership.
We know that we are often discouraged from pursuing entrepreneurship or leadership roles. This initial step has helped us develop the practical skills and confidence to take on leadership roles and pursue our own entrepreneurial ventures.
Together we have started promoting the sharing of best practices, building a European network that will work toward gender equality and STEM innovation.
We have broadened our horizons, as if looking up at a sky full of stars: the more we observe it, the more we realize how many possibilities exist beyond what we already know.
We have met new people, we have talked, shared ideas, exchanged thoughts, and experiences. Each interaction felt like forming a new constellation—unique, connected, and meaningful.
Nothing from this experience will be lost. It has been an important enrichment in many ways. We have opened our minds to different people, different habits, and especially to new perspectives in STEM fields, where diversity of thought is essential for innovation.
Confidence, leadership and opportunities for girls.
Curiosity, creative thinking and collaborative learning.
Friendships and perspectives that cross borders.
