Introduction
From 5 to 9 October, our school took part in an Erasmus+ mobility hosted in Přerov, Czech Republic. The host institution was Gymnázium Jana Blahoslava a Střední pedagogická škola, which welcomed students and teachers from the participating partner countries.
Our delegation consisted of six students, five girls and one boy, who were accommodated by local host families. This experience gave them the opportunity to discover Czech culture, experience everyday family life in another country, and develop their language and intercultural communication skills.
The other partner countries involved in the mobility were Spain and Slovakia. The meeting brought together students and teachers from different cultural backgrounds, encouraging cooperation, friendship, and the exchange of ideas.
Workshops and Educational Activities
During the mobility, students participated in a variety of creative and educational workshops focusing on art, music, and drama. These activities encouraged them to express themselves, work collaboratively, and explore different forms of artistic communication.
The art workshops provided opportunities for creativity and self-expression, while the music activities allowed students to share their interests and discover different cultural traditions. The drama workshops promoted teamwork, confidence, imagination, and communication skills. Working in international groups also helped students overcome language barriers and build positive relationships with their European peers.
These activities demonstrated the importance of arts and creativity as tools for inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and personal development.
Cultural Visits and Discovering the Czech Republic
The mobility also included several cultural visits that allowed participants to learn more about Czech history, nature, and cultural heritage.
One of the activities was a visit to Přerov Zoo, where students had the opportunity to discover different animal species and spend time together outside the classroom.
The group also visited Olomouc, a historic city known for its beautiful architecture, monuments, and cultural heritage. This visit gave students the opportunity to explore an important Czech city and learn more about the country's history and traditions.
The programme also included a visit to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Students explored the city and admired its remarkable historical landmarks and architectural beauty. The visit offered a valuable opportunity to discover one of Europe's most famous capitals and deepen their knowledge of Czech culture.
Accommodation and Intercultural Exchange
Staying with host families was an important part of the Erasmus+ experience. It allowed our six students to experience Czech daily life from a local perspective and practise communicating in English in real-life situations.
Living with local families encouraged independence, adaptability, and openness to different customs and lifestyles. At the same time, the students developed friendships with their Czech hosts and with participants from Spain and Slovakia.
The international environment fostered mutual understanding, respect for cultural diversity, and a stronger sense of European citizenship.
